It's ideal for customers who want to save while being away from the country. Upon restoral, they can continue to access their original plan, bonus data and discounts.

I'm wondering what the process is for pausing my cell phone plan for a few months while I am out of the country, and how much will I be charged for pausing the service? Will I still keep my promotional price and free data after the service resumes when I come back?

The wireless temporary suspension offer is available to Rogers postpaid customers who have a no-term price plan. It allows customers to place their line on a temporary hold anywhere from 2-12 months for a monthly fee of $30/month. During this time, you will not be charged for your monthly service plan (this includes your Device Protection Plan fees, if applicable). Upon restoral, you can continue to access your original plan, bonus data and discounts. This option is considered an alternative to cancelling your line.

 

A few important things to note:

 

  • This offer may only be added within 30 days before the suspension begins.
  • You cannot discount the suspension fee and it's non-refundable.
  • You cannot do plan changes during the suspension period.
  • Since Device Protection fees will also be suspended, you will not be able to make a claim with Brightstar while under temporary suspension.
  • You can only add one temporary suspension per 12-month period. The 12-month period starts the day the suspension was last active.

We use a Rogers Hub for internet at our summer home.  Very expensive only plan is Flex @ $60.00 for only  5GB of data.  I suspended it for the winter and was told by Rogers it would be $5.00 per month plus tax.  Which is reasonable for it not being in use for six months.  Rogers billed me $30.00  for 6 mos in November.  Then another $30.00 for December and January.  After live chatting today with them today they informed me that I had been misinformed by the agent in November(I sent them the actual live chat) and that it was actually $30.00 per month which is unbelievable for a service that has been shut down and not in use.  I would not recommend Rogers for this service to anyone.  A definate ripping off of a long time customer.  Definately in the market for a better internet provider.
