Number porting incomplete

RodDhiFam
I've been here awhile

Hi,,

Two months ago I ported two numbers from Fido. The first number ported over. The second number 647+ didnt fully transfer.

My phone shows the temp 437 number on the SIM but it's linked to my 647 as all calls, messages etc are coming and going. My Rogers account shows the 437 and the 647 in my account.

I feel like it's stuck in purgatory for numbers as it didnt fully transfer.

Could I try to transfer my 647 to an eSIM or will that transfer the 437 number instead?

Thank you.

Hello RodDhiFam,

The number that you see saved on your phones SIM card is not always necessarily the same "active" phone number that is programmed on your line on the Rogers Cellular network.

The only true way to tell is to observe the following:

When you make outgoing calls from your 647+ phone, does the person you are calling see the temp number  or do they see your 647+ number.

If you see the 647+ number then your phone port is complete, you can also tell by looking at your sim card of that number from your old provider and power it on, if it says no network or unregistered sim, then the port is successful.

Sometimes it takes a while for the number change to flow thru your account and show up on your sim card. you can call rogers and ask for a "resend to switch" and that could fix how its showing in your phone.

Thank you

It does show as 647 when I call out. I'll try to call for the resend to switch option....if I get to support within an hour!

I'll update when it happens.

Thanks,

By the way, some phone models allow you to edit the number that shows up in the phone Sim card menus and other phone models may not let you,   This means the number displayed is just for display purposes and has no relevance on the actual number that is programmed at the Cellular Switch level.  Some grey market phones may  even ignore the resend to switch command and not update the number when the command is sent by the agent,
