Just realized I became a victim of a social engineering scam today

mochi998
I've been around

Seeking advice on what I can do next, as well as sharing my experience so others don't fall victim to these scammers:

Last month I got a call from someone impersonating as a rogers employee offering me a promotional plan that included a device. I told them I didn't need a new device so the person over the phone offered me a plan that was similar to mine but cheaper. I said sure I will take it. They proceeded to "process" the order and then a couple hours later I noticed that I received an e-mail from Rogers saying a new iphone was ordered on my account and is being shipped to my address.

A moment later I receive a call from the same fake Rogers employee saying they made a mistake and submitted the wrong order on my  account. They told me the iphone will be dispatched to my address and that I will need to return it to them once I receive it since it has already been sent out for dispatch. I said okay no problem, and they said they will provide me a prepaid shipping label to ship it back to them via UPS once the device arrives.

Unfortunately I did not think too much of it at the time since I was not feeling well and had a lot going on and fell for this scam. I ended up shipping the device with their prepaid label to the scammer and left with a bill on my account with changes that I didn't want.

What should I do next? Is there anything I can do to cancel and revert the changes on my account? I don't want to be responsible for paying the monthly bill on a phone I didn't want or have. The scammers have the phone now so I can't even return it to Rogers.

I've already left a message to someone at Rogers' fraud department, waiting to hear back from them.
