Thanks for being part of our Community and congratulations on your first post!! This is a really good question! 👍
When you have an especially great plan that works perfect for your individual needs, you definitely want to hold on to it for as long as possible! Typically, a simple telephone number change wouldn't affect the price plan that you have, unless you are changing to a new area code that is outside the eligibility rules of the plan you are on. If this doesn't apply to you and your new area code meets the plan requirements, then you should be able to change your telephone number without it affecting the plan that you have.
Please note that there is a fee of $35 (plus taxes) to change your telephone number, unless of course you decide to do it via self-serve (which is definitely the more cost-effective option). Please click HERE to see the self-serve steps.
I hope this helps provide some clarity! If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to post them here in the Community!! 😏
The self-serve option looks super convenient.
Unfortunately, it only allows me to select the new number from a list of numbers it provides.
What I would like to do is change the number to the number used for another Rogers plan I have.
Also, I would like to save the number I am changing it from, and use that number on the other Rogers plan.
Basically, I want to switch the numbers on two (different) legacy Rogers plans.
I know it sounds convoluted, but if I can change the number on either plan to a brand new number, it seems reasonable that I should be able to specify the number, if I already use it on another Rogers plan.
Maybe this is too complicated for their self serve tool...
Any other suggestions?
I think I understand what you are trying to accomplish here. Although it may seem like a simple enough task, it is actually a bit more complicated than it sounds!! 😬
We cannot port a Postpaid phone number over to another Postpaid line, we can only port a Postpaid phone number to/from a Prepaid line. Once a phone number is ported out somewhere, the line it was sitting on will get cancelled. Unfortunately, we have no way to swap phone numbers simultaneously. A few questions for you:
- Are both of these phone numbers on Postpaid accounts?
- Are either of the lines sharing their plan with any other additional lines?
- Do either of these lines carry any FLEXtab (subsidy) balance?
- Are the two legacy price plans different or are they the same plan type?
Once we confirm the above information, we can determine if what you are requesting is possible.
Thanks so much! 😃
Thank you for sharing all the information. I did take a look into this for you and regretfully, we are not able to port a number from one Rogers postpaid account to another Rogers postpaid account.
You can only port one of the numbers successfully by first moving your postpaid number over to a Rogers Prepaid account and then you'll be able to port it over to the other postpaid account.
Keep in mind that you will lose one of your phone numbers in the process and you'll also lose the plan on the postpaid account where the number was originally ported from. Based on what you explained, this wouldn't be ideal for you.
If you have any other questions, let us know. Thanks.
