My understanding is that there is no difference between the LTE data plan and regular data plan.
It all depends on whether your phone is LTE capable or not.
In your case, when you get your Lumia 900, you should see a faster (LTE) internet browsing speed, compared with the speed you currently experience with your regular smart phone (non-LTE device).
Thank you both .. As my original post i confirmed with her three times that the plan i am getting is LTE.. The plan will be active on April 8th ( I am still on voice only plan now ) .. lets see ..
LTE is faster on the device BUT if you have a 1GB data of LTE you will go over 1GB on LTE in a fast time. I suggest if you are getting a LTE data plan to get higher then 1GB.
You might scare some people off LTE by saying you'll cap your data allocation in a faster time.
LTE is capable of much faster speeds over 3G/4G so a device like the Lumia 900 is going to perform much faster than non LTE phones when doing anything data related. With that said, if you were using your phone to say check 200 emails a month and watch some YouTube videos you're going to pretty much use the same amount of data on LTE as if you would be using it on 3G, only difference is your experience on LTE will be faster and smoother making it overall a much more pleasant experience
Where there is some truth in you'll use up data faster is in the fact that LTE is much faster, let's say one was streaming video with some app off a service that was able to detect your speed was faster on LTE and improve the video quality by sending more data in the stream. That would use up more data to watch time same video on LTE vs 3G since you would be receiving extra data to improve the video quality.
Of course LTE comes at a price, it consumes a lot more battery power. One very nice thing about the Lumia is it comes with an 1800+mA battery which is totally awesome and will help. I believe there is also a setting to disable LTE and use 3G/4G, if so, it would make your data transfers slower but you would have a lot more between charges which is a nice to know when you need battery life over speed.
With that said, I'd still agree that getting a higher data plan is preferable.
I have a 'reservation' on a 900, but haven't yet received any of the 'weekly' updates they promised when the reservation was confirmed. Anyone else getting them?
On the pre-order page only black color is listed. Any idea when other colors are supposed to arrive. I want Cyan.
No Weekly updates yet .. I ordered Black
Price started going down now .. Walmart US is selling it for $49 and Amazon is 0.01Cent
In the US where there's actual competition in the space, you can get the Lumia 900 for free on a 2 year plan...
