Turning off Notifications

Hello there,

I am a Rogers One Number subscriber.  Love the service HOWEVER I want to turn off the birthday notifications on my phone.  They are irritating and you can't just click away to clear them.  Is this possible?  I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and have been unable to find an option which allows me to do this.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi 5ndime,

To remove the birthday notifications you would have to remove the Facebook feature from the Rogers One Number application itself. At this time there is no option to customize the information you want synched.

I don't think you understood my post at all.  I am wanting to turn off birthday notifications on my phone.  When a contact member of mine has birthday Rogers1 send a notification to my cell phone to alert me to the fact that it is their birthday.  The issue is the notificaiton does not go away until the next day.  This takes up space in my notification bar on my phone and quite frankly I don't need to be reminded of someone's Birthday all day long.  I have been unable to turn these notifications off via my phone app/online site or my desktop app.

Thank you

Hey 5ndime,

Well I just learned something new about Rogers One Number! I haven't used birthday notifications on it before but I think I'll start. I use Facebook mainly on mobile so I rarely see those notifications.

About clearing the notification - I'll send that feedback to the product team. As far as I know there isn't a way to clear the notification but I will let them know because they are continuously improving.

Thanks for reaching out!

I really appreciate you checking on this as well. Having the birday icons in the notification bar is frustrating, because it isn't just one icon, it's an icon for EVERY birthday your Facebook friends have. Wow.

I will love you the day it is resolved :smileywink:

Thanks!

Please allow us to turn birthday notification off. I don't like the way that Rogers thinks they own my phone and pushes things like this on me. Ideally I'd also like to be able to remove '1 Contacts'

Technicaly, you CAN remove 1 contacts from the phone.

You just cant guarantee, that the RON app, and the telephone phone book, will by synced then.

My apologies. Just realized I posted a solution for an iPhone, not a Samsung.
