I posted this in My Rogers.... but was advised to post it here......

The following has been displaying on our accounts for ages now, how much longer?

Need to manage your recordings or view your channel guide?

The links allowing you to do this aren’t available right now, but you can use the Rogers Anyplace TVTM Home Edition app — it’s free!

Great question @pmcsplaza!

We are currently testing the new integration to the TV line up page.  It will also allow you to manage your PVR.  We'll have a better idea when we are going to implement this feature by mid December.

Ok, so, you're currently testing the new integration to the TV line up page.  This implies some type of test group.  For eveyone's knowledge, can you briefly outline the staff that you have available to you who:

1.  Write the software requirements for a project such as this;

2.  Code the program to the written requirements;

3.  Conduct an engineering acceptance, to the requirements; and

4.  Conduct a product acceptance on behalf of Rogers, ensuring that the product actually works and functions as expected.

5.  Are all of the staff actually Rogers staff, are some of them contractors hired on a project basis?

6.  If they are all Rogers staff, do they form a central pool of programming staff, learning and relearning systems as they move from project to project, or are they organized into teams with specific areas of responsibilities and knowledge, which should result in a better final product?

Hi @Datalink,

We have dedicated teams focusing on digital self serve initiatives.   The teams review requirements with customer input and design solutions with customer experience in mind.  In addition, solutions need to pass extensive test phases before launching to our customers.

@Datalink  I get the impression, like many of us that you were trying to get deep into the detail of the development and testing process because as users we have experienced some seriously poor implementations of things as of late.

From your questions, like many of us, you are well experienced in the research, design, engineering, programming, testing at a technical level based upon design and engineering expectations, followed by customer testing, focus groups, and then final implemenation and being prepared for the unexpected things that always go wrong.

What I was missing in the explanation was I am not sure whether the testing includes consumer testing and not just extensive internal testing before it is implemented.

" In addition, solutions need to pass extensive test phases before launching to our customers."  Hopefully they have learned from the 75% view failure of Firefox and Chrome - that was not exactly a strong representation of "extensive internal testing".

But I will cross my fingers and hope that they can get things right in future implemenation. The track record for the last 8 months or so on various web implementations and TV access has left a lot to be desired and did not reflect that stated procedure and committment to a solid product launched to our customers.

I apologize for being so cynical on this topic, that is not normally me, but trust is earned through actions, and easily lost and then must be proven in order to get it back.  For me I am not there.  I have acknowledged a couple of quick responses as late and hope it continues.

Well, I'm not trying to be cynical, or critical, and I don't subscribe to the vast majority of services that are experiencing numerous issues, but the statement "solutions need to pass extensive test phases before launching to our customers." doesn't seem to pass muster given the list of launch failures and continuing problems with various services.  Just an observation......

I think we are getting off topic.  I asked a simple question and it was answered.
