Hi Gdkitty. Any help that you can give will be much appreciated.
As an example, channel 28/526 (Fox). The "Appearance / Video Output" setting. On certain channels, for certain programs, there is no difference when I change the setting from Normal to Stretch. There is when I change it to Zoom 25% and Zoom 50%, but not from Normal to Stretch. I also have tried the "Aspect #" button and again no effect. Fox also broadcasts the exact same programming on channel 157. This works just fine on 157.
Everything was just hunkey dorey on the old program guide.
Thanks. Frannie

Right, that would be because of the change with the newer boxes (at least by my understanding).
The zoom 25 and 50.. are just that.. zoom, and yeah should work either way.
On the OLDER boxes and the newer ones on the old guide.. even the older HD ones.. when you were on an SD feed, it would output 480i resolution. You could use the stretch to kinda get it full screenish, etc
With the new ones, when you go to one of those channels which is not already in HD (1080i), it UPSCALES them TO 1080i.. so its sort of forcing them up to the higher rez.. those channels are not outputing at 480i at least with the new guide anymore then. And this is whats limiting the aspect/stretch, as it technicaly thinks there is nothing to do, as its already at 1080.
With analog disapearing and it all digital, you will see more stations outputing in only HD then anyways, etc.. and you will see this become less of an issue.. but for now it might still... espeicaly if you are watching still on an older style TV (not widescreen).

At this moment? No, they will still function fine.
You will just not be able to potentialy use any new features that may come out, exclusive to the new guide (home sharing, for example)
While nothing has been said, there may be a cut of date, some time in the future, where you do have to have the new guide, but that would be sometime far out.
They are updating things though it appears.. how long to fix EVERYTHING? who know (there are still bugs in the old guide which never got fixed
). But just 2 nights ago, they pushed an update which changed the display to make channels that you dont get, easier to distinguish (and there may have been other fixes, just havent found them yet).

I have just upgraded to the new guide. Just like many others, I am not regretting doing so. :-(

Hi Chkamran
Why the sad face if you're not regretting upgrading to the new guide?

Sorry, that was a typo. I am regretting it. Does anyone know how to set it up so that I only see channels I subscribe to when I use channels up/down button on the remote? I don't like looking at the "You are authorized ..." message.

There is no 'hide all' function to do that, so to speak.
But there is a option to go in and you can manualy remove each.

Who has the time to remove one by one? I was told by tech support that they are fixing this issue and it shall be included in the next update.
New! Introducing a new feature: groups. Read more.
