Hello: I was informed moments ago by a Rogers agent that the 4K PVR 3.0 Nextboxes are available either for rent or to purchase for Ontario customers. Seems I've been hearing or getting that same informatioin for months now and yet every time I call one of the Rogers stores for purchase, I'm told they have none available. Furthermore the Rogers agents have no way to check to see where there are any in stock at a specific store to avoid having you call twenty locations or more to try and locate one of these to buy. Does anyone know for sure if these 4K PVR Nextboxes are available to purchase ($500) and if so where to possibly locate one or how to locate one?
Hi Meowmix and thanks for sharing that information, much appreciated.
Hi again Meowmix: Any chance you know which location or which city he purchased his from? Just thinking I could contact that same store and purchase one there or have them send/ship it to me if it's not in my city (Ottawa). Rogers will ship them.
@oaky You might want to hold off on your purchase.
Rogers is deploying a new service in the next year that may make that box obsolete;
@Meowmix, can you post the source for that confirmation by Rogers?
Also, the source for the postion that it will cost much more than the current boxes / plans.
Yes, the OP may not want to wait for IPTV, but at the very minimum, being aware of what's coming in 12 months, versus spending $500+ now on a PVR that won't work with IPTV (as proven by Shaw's BlueSky TV offering, which is also X1), is prudent.
As for Rogers' loss on IPTV...they're already recovering that from current customers; https://forums.redflagdeals.com/rogers-5-price-inc
Great and thanks again Meowmix. Always appreciated.
