lets hope ROGERS doesnt delete my reply this time...

putting non rogers firmware DOES NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY... the warranty is through NOKIA and not Rogers....

call ROGERS YOURSELF and ask!!  they will not and DO NOT service or warranty your phone!! they just ship it for you to NOKIA!!

NOKIA WILL WARRANTY YOUR PHONE FOR ONE YEAR INCLUSIVE!!  as long as the firmware is NOKIA approved, they dont care what country code it is!!

I agree with you for the hardware/software part, but I am sure that that Nokia does have an agreement with ROGERS to provide the right services.

Nokia will not jeopardize is reputation for a low hand provider like Rogers. Worldwide, Rogers is very small, so I think Nokia could pull the plug anytime.

That said, Nokia need to be in North America, even if it is a small market compare to Europe or Asia.

I agree also that Rogers doesn't have the professionalism that we as consumer expect  Rogers should start thinking that if you decide to sell Smartphone, they also need to be smart and respectful for their money providers and provide the service we are expecting for our money.

Hey Maximus, yes that is the main refernce I used.  I didn't try the hack though.  I just put on the firmware.  Here is a quick summary I made of the steps I did so I remember for next time:

  1. Run Navifirm as administrator (right-click icon, run as admin, otherwise Windows 7 won't let you download the firmware)
  2. Download 0522999 to C://programfiles/nokia/phoenix/products/RM-596 (create this folder if it doesn’t already exsit)
  3. Back up everything you want to keep. Format mass memory & SD Card.  Hard reset: *#7370#
  4. Open Phoenix
  5. Go to tools, options, product location: make all 3 the same as above
  6. Plug in Phone
  7. File, manage connections, choose USB
  8. File, scan product
  9. Flashing, firmware update
  10. Choose Firmware
  11. Refurbish
  12. If phone dies, follow instructions in 2nd link below for how to flash in dead phone mode
  13. Remove memory card before installing Ovi Store.  If doesn’t work, do following:
  14. install qt 4.6 & webkit
  15. install qt 4.7 & webkit
  16. Install bubbles and reboot
  17. Install qtdowngrade.sis and reboot
  18. remove memory card
  19. Install Ovi store

I used these 2 websites for instructions and downloads of Navifirm and Phoenix.  Good luck!

@Community

Hi everyone,

We have spoken with Nokia Canada and the OS upgrade is not yet available for testing by Rogers. As you know, the availability of OS updates is up to the device manufacturer.

As soon as the manufacturer makes the OS available to us for testing, it will be made released to customers as appropriate.

Thank you for your patience, we will keep you posted.

Thanks you Erin.

It would appears the spreadsheet has been changed as well on Nokia Forum.  It has been changed from "pending carrier's approval" to "in creation".  On the bright side, 13.012/PR1.1may actually be in creation this time on the Nokia Canada end.

Hopefully, things will change for the better.

Let's face it...Rogers is never going to release this update, or any other ones that come out for this phone.
