Tried...but when I got to installing Phoenix - my virus scanner said there was a trojan so I aborted.
Phoenix_Service_Software_2012.04.003.47798_Cracked is the version I got ....the cracked is probably a big hint...don't do it. But that is what google let me too...
GSM Forum - checked by their latest version was 2010
Navifirm+ gave me no issues..
Any idea where to get a safe version oh Phoenix?
unless we work for a vendor.. all of us have to get a cracked version of phoenix. it's well known (after reading many a forum) that one *should disable AV programs, microsoft security essentials, etc... If you scan the rar file or the extracted version of phoenix - it *should NOT come up with any AV flags. but running AV in resident background with phoenix is operation has been know to cause errors.
rogers will you release the nokia belle for us? or we keep waiting for nothing.. we want your reply regarding this update. we want this updates for our symbian 3 devices. dont bring us down your customers.thanks in advance we'll appreciate your response.
Last night, I decided to check for software updates through the N8. There was one....it was a Belle Demo???? Are they just teasing me? Also, after reading through all of the posts on this thread, I almost thought I was reading the thread for the Anna Update. It is pretty much the same. Nokia's Belle Update Status list looks exactly the same as it did when we were waiting for Anna. It just took a really long time to get it. So I'm sure we will get Belle, just not soon.
yes it is worth it, i flashed my n8 a few days after belle was released, anyways BELL FP2 is coming to N8 soon, so wait for that and DEF flash ur phone for that that should be even better , rogers for making us do this another erason why i'll never go back to them.
**edited for content**
few months left with Rogers and is good bye......I'm either flashing my N8 or getting an Iphone....but never again with Rogers.
Wow. Rogers is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.
No Belle update for us and yet there's already a NEW Belle Refresh update.
Awesome work Rogers!
PS. They work about as fast as this website. It took me 5 minutes to open up my bill online. Wow.
Sadly, the only real option for us N8 users in N.America is to flash our phones ourselves with the generic N.American version of the Bell Refresh firmware (which is available, and fully supports all device capabilities), which effectively terminates the device's warranty with Rogers & Nokia. The Google keywords to use are: Navifirm Phoenix RM-596. It's important to warn that *unless* you are technically competent enough to understand the procedure (the update from any version earlier than "Belle" cannot be easily undone), to install the software (and make sure that it is not trojaned with malware that will infest your computer), and have your original Nokia USB cable to flash with, *disasters* can and will occur!
The N.American generic Belle refresh firmware downloads on the publically accessible Nokia servers (via the tool Googled above) are collected under the device code RM-596, version number 111.040.1511, and firmware code "nam_X", where X is the colour of your device casing.
NOTE TO ROGERS FORUM MODS: I am *not* advocating flashing the N8 device since Rogers may very well decide to update their official firmware version (so far, Nokia is releasing only generic regional versions, the carrier specific versions are made available whenever the carriers decide to use the update and complete their custom work, and there are never annoucements of availibilty on Nokia's side). For those willing to do a bit of diligent homework, however, flashing your own device does solve the problem--but people need to realize that it's a quite risky procedure.
