Hey rogers community,
Im really new to this digital world, and i thought i'd get my first cell phone.
but i seen many people use touchscreens and the new iphone! and even the experia play by sony and then
the blackberry my sister had, and the flipflop phone my older brother had.
So i thought it was time for me to get a cell phone too!
so by experienced users of cell phones what would be your recommendations
for my first phone? thanks for your support!

Well i own the HTC Raider, iPhone 4S, Samsung s2 LTE, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Nexus, Bold 9900, torch 9860, HTC One X & the Sony Xperia S
Out of all those phones i love & use my Xperia S more then any other phone i have & bought.
Sony Xperia S = http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_s-4369.php

HTC One X = http://www.rogers.com/web/link/wirelessBuyFlow?for
I would recommend getting the Xperia S. It has the highest PPI of any screen out there 4.3 720P screen with 342 ppi pixel density. 12MP back camera with Exmor sensor that records 1080P. its a 1.5.Ghz dual core. The Sony Xperia is ONLY avaliable at the Sony store. Its a Rogers phone & it costs $99 on a 3 year term. I suggest looking at it. It will get 4.0 ICS update in may / beggining of June.

I thank you for the good post of Phones, since im new i have another question... If i just got the phone and no plan would i have to pay $800.00 for the phone? what does the 3 year-term do exactly? Sony Xperia looks interesting indeed, i'll probably purchase when i visit a rogers store, thank you.

The Rogers store does not sell the Sony Xperia S yet. IT is a Rogers phone but The only place you can get it is via Any Sony store. Rogers reps are in the stores & can handle any activations with the phone. Rogers should be getting the phone within a month or so. Its exclusive to Sony stores for the time being..
3 year term means that you will be locked into a contract with Rogers for the next 3 years. You will be able to cancel with Rogers but you will have to pay a fee to cancel. If you want to stay with Rogers for the next 3 years then this is a option for you. Its not the best option but it's really up to you.
The Sony Xperia S costs $499.99 outright. With Taxes it will cost $550.00. The best thing is if you have that kinda money, buy the phone outright instead of signing a 3 year term to get the phone for less. Its not really worth it signing a 3 year term with Rogers or any other carrier. You will be stuck & not able to get out unless you pay hundreds of dollars to get out. ( it depends on the phone cost & the new Cancellation fees.).
I would suggest you go to the Sony store & look at the phone. Its a amazing phone with no problems i have yet to see. Some reps at the Sony store might give you a free case or give you a discount on a case for the phone. Also make sure when you get the phone get a MICRO sim-card because that is the only sim-card that works with the phone.

@Napoli426
Not everyone wants a contract. 3 year contracts are way to long to havea cellphone contract. In the states & Europe they have 1 & 2 year contracts where here in Canada we have 1,2, & 3 yea terms. Not everyone wants a 3 year term. Not everyone has the best experience with Rogers. I have read many people ( Including my self) where the service we get are not the service we are supposed to get & get reps on the phone that give little or no info on what is going on & help we need. Read the forums to see it for your self.
You now have to pay for the activation unless somehow managers waive it for you. This is something that now many get because Rogers will lose money on it.
You will regret it because in the end, you pay more on a 3 year term then you do if you go on a pay as you go or a month to month bill ( No term).
Also just because lets say one or 2 people get great service & all, does not mean everyone else will get the same great service those 2 get you know?
In the end its personal prefernce in what they want to do.
