Picking an unused number for distinctive ring.

I originally had 2 phones numbers coming to my house one for our main line one for my wife and we used distinctive ring. We cancelled the distinctive ring when this number was no longer needed. We would like to again use this number and it is available but not a rogers number. I've called our former number and  it says its not in service. My wife's name still appears in 411 search.  Is there any possible way I can get this number old number back if its not being used by anyone else? Or is my only hope in getting it back going to BELL?

Thanks in advance?

if bell lets you sign up and gives you this number, you can always port it in to your rogers account as a second line.

ive seen this done lots of time
