Hi i don`t know what happened , i came back into my room and noticed i couldnt connect to the internet so i went and reset it to factory default which i`ve done many times before . after the reset i had the same problem so i reset it again . then to my amazement i got 2 connections in my wireless connections , i tryed using 192.168.0.1 but nothing worked thats when i noticed that the ip was 192.168.1.104 instead of 192.168.0.1 thats when i noticed the router setup changed from smc to linksys . the second connection is rogers9f090 but no user name or password works for login to that wireless connection . any help would be great i was thinking a new firmware might be needed for the router but i don`t want to mess things up more lol
my guess is that you are seeing the WiFi connection from one of your neighbours as well as from your own from the SMC3DGN.
You do not mention which type of device/computer you are using to connect to the internet.
Any Linksys router I have ever worked with defaulted to the 192.168.1.nnn address range. From your posting I could not determine if your PC/device IP address was at 192.168.1.104, or if that was the router IP address. However it would be entirely possible, although unusual, to change the router IP address to 192.168.1.104.
