Help - Does a hard reset on an SMC D3GN enable wireless by default upon restart

I am trying to get my mother's modem back online.  A Rogers Tech came and swapped out a defected SMC modem with a new one,.  However he didn't provide her any direction on securing the modem with a new password/username nor did he set up any type of wireless encryption ( i.e.. WPA2-Personal)   I believe he just hooked it up and used the default settings for wireless.  I tried to remote control her computer to set this up but I lost connection and she cannot get a wireless signal now.   She lives far away from me.  I am hoping someone can confirm if I get her to do a hard reset of the modem, will it come back on with wireless enabled by default.   My mom is not computer savvy at all  and  she would not know how to hook up the laptop with an Ethernet cord for me to talk her through configuration settings.  If a hard reset would work, at least she would be online and I could secure her connection next time I visit her.  Does anyone know if this would work?  Or can Rogers Tech Support reset the modem themselves and ensure the wireless is enabled if I called them.  Any help/views  on this would be appreciated.   I wish I didn't try to change her settings but I didn't expect my logmein software to disconnect and mess things up. I live about 31/2 hours away and can't get up to visit her for a few weeks. Agghhhh!!!

Hi cpwada,

Yes Internet Tech. Support can remotely reset the modem. They will also be able to assist with setting up LAN password protection.
