Getting Dropped from Games hosted on Battle.net

I saw another post here about being disconnected from WoW.  This would be the same issue since they both run on battle.net servers.  There is a forum thread on battlenets starcraft 2 forums about this and the thread is titled "Rogers Disconnect Issue Thread, Post Here!"

I will post my traceroute here:

Tracing route to us.logon.battle.net [12.129.206.130]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

Trace complete.

Please find out where the chain is being broken and fix the issue.  There are a lot of people in that thread complaining about lost connection to battle.net and are starting to become impatient.

Hopefully I'm not breaking any user agreement by posting the thread link but here it is http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/933034583?page=1

Thank you in advance for all your efforts.

Same here, I play starcraft 2 and it's been dropping consistantly, only started YESTURDAY, there's a pretty big thread on the blizzard forums with people complaining about consistant drop connections since yesturday, and we all have 1 thing in common, and that is we're all using ROGERS!

This suddenly happened about 1-2 days ago to all of us (Starcraft 2 at least). Please advise on a solution.

This is happening to me as well and it's incredibly frustrating. We're running on Rogers Ultra Extreme Mega Ridiculous and everyone in my house has constant disconnect issues with battlenet.

I heard it's because rogers is attempting to throttle torrent connections, so it reads Starcraft and Wow as Peer-to-peer connections and kicks us off over and over.

This is an incredible frustrating practice and if they're going to continually swing a hammer blindly at their clients internet activity  while already charging a premium for extra downloads each month ANYWAYS, then I will take my houses service somewhere else.

The ports I requested they discontinue packet shaping in the WoW thread will fix all Blizzard products, and not just WoW.  :smileyhappy:

Rogers moves at the speed of molasses in January going uphill with stuff like this.

It appears to be going on since early to mid november and there is no end in sight.

Getting random and impromptu disconnects in other games and from netflix as well.  February 2011 and they apparently have not resolved the issue; nor are the techs willing to admit any knowledge of it.

Dear Rogers:  I currently don't need 170+ GB/month or 50mbps...even though I'm paying for it since apparently the Ultimate users get VIP tech support.  I simply want to aim at someone's head and actually hit them or trinket a kidney shot and be able to react near instantly.  Seriously though, for most gaming needs one simply needs to send a few small packets from A to B to C and back.  Latency, reliability, uptime, and consistency are unfortunately not readily 'measurable' and thus harder to police/cry about to Rogers for refunds/etc.

If anyone has any solutions or workarounds to the random disconnects/drops:  it'd be great.  So far only QQ on the forums.  WTB a fix so I can pew pew.

Running a VPN usually solves the problem as Rogers hasn't yet started throttlling/shaping it.
