Rogers Bandwidth Monitoring not working --> Will I go over my bandwidth cap without even knowing it?

I downloading a bandwidth monitor called FreeMeter that puts my onlive gaming at about 2 gb an hour. The last two nights alone, with updates done to my computer, downloaded content, and a couple hours of gaming, FreeMeter has calculated that I have used 31.32 GB of Bandwidth. I have a bandwidth cap of 150 gb per month.

However, the past two days Rogers has only calculated that I have used a mere 9GB of my bandwidth, instead of the massive 30gb FreeMeter had calculated.

This is a huge difference, and I'm concerned that I will go over my bandwidth cap, and won't even know it.

What can be the cause of this difference?

Rogers has updated my usage. They have posted my usage from Feb. 20-22, but set that usage to the low 9 GB. Unless this usage is going to be changed within the next 24 hours, they have kept it up to date.

Just curious as to WHAT you are playing that is using that much bandwidth?

I know with DLC and content updates, etc that can really eat into it.. most of that 31g you stated.. (heck, to download WoW installer is like 20g worth >.>).

But for regular gameplay.. shouldnt really be anywhere near 2g in my experience... most games that i have looked at bandwith usage, even the higher usage ones.. are well between 500-1g per month, and thats with 6+ hours a day playing.

The program I use is OnLive. It's basically Netflix but for online gaming.

I realize it's high, but my question was why rogers and my personal monitor show up different readings.

While that wouldn't explain such a difference, do you have any other device connected to the Internet?  Your program will measure what goes in and out of your desktop PC, but that's it.   A router that can monitor usage does a more accurate job if you have multiple devices.

Sometimes Rogers data usage thing gets out of sync. It can take a week (or more) someitmes to correct itself. Keep in mind, if you stream stuff across your home network like to a PS3 or XBOX or something else, your local meter will count that as usuage too, but since it's not going over the internet, Rogers doesn't see it. If it's only your computer hooked up to the internet though, then your local meter is probably right and Rogers will correct itself before you bill is done.
