DNS SERVER PROBLEMS

I just got the CISCO DPC3825 Modem and have found that the probelm is not with the Hardware.  The probelm is with the DNS server it connects to.  My DNS server is 64.71.255.198.  The server only works part of the time.  this means that I have been getting slow downloads of internet pages and sometimes my wireless devices will not connect.

Try pinging your DNS server and see if you get request time outs before calling tech support.  If you get the same error I am getting get on the phone and let them know.  I am awaiting them to fix my problem maybe it will help everyone else too.

Cobra:

welcome to Mr. Roger's neighbourhood.

Rogers has been informed many, many times about the problems with its DNS servers.  Whatever they have done about it, it has not helped.  So I've given up on them.

So, do yourself a favour, and set up your PC's to go to a different DNS server.  Many other topics in this Forum have mentioned alternate DNS servers which you could use.  For example, you could try 8.8.8.8, which is the Google DNS server.

Do a search on the Internet for some DNS alternatives, and you may go through an educational experience which will allow you to make some intelligent choices on the issue.
