I live in Calgary but I've got a recreational property in Southern BC just on the Canadian side of the border.  I get a very faint connection to the Rogers network, but a very strong connection to the AT&T network when I turn on roaming.

What are my options for using the AT&T network for voice, text, and data? I've read about the roaming packages and the OneRate data plan, but I'd prefer not to pay that much.

Use AT&T if you want to pay constant ridiculous roaming chargers WHEN ON CANADIAN GROUNDS... & since you are still IN CANADA, AT&T probably won't really care & just try to convince you to use their network cause well.. $! If you get a decent Rogers rep, he/she will warn you big time, to stay on the Rogers network.. switch to EDGE if you have to.

Point is, in Canada on a Canadian carrier + using AT&T which is an American carrier = ROAMING, hundreds of $ if not thousands, VERY QUICKLY.
