I have a few questions about upgrading. First, I was wondering whether I can use my upgrade to switch to a smartphone plan (iphone or something similar) I also noticed on the site that when you use your upgrade you renew for 3 years. I already renewed my plan but didnt get a new phone. If I use my upgrade will I end up stuck with a 6 year plan?
First question. Yes you can. Once you upgrade to a smartphone ( Blackberry, Apple, Android Or Windows phone) You need a Smartphone plan with it. Rogers & other carriers tell you in order to get a smartphone you need a data plan which is a Smartphone plan. ( this does not work with Smartphone lite).
Second question. No. Once you upgrade to another phone you auto sign a 3 year term. Which means whatever term you had before will stop & you will start a 3 year term from the day you got the device. Lets say you got the device tomorrow. You will have 3 years with Rogers which your contract will end March 12 2015.
You can do that by Logging into My Rogers - Overview - Check Upgrade Eligibility. Once you are in there, pick any phone you want and it will show you the price of the upgrade fee + the phone price + the $35 admin fee.
You can also contact Rogers and the rep will tell you that info as well.
