Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 ICS

Samsung already announced they have given the ICS update to carriers for almost all of their updatable devices including the Galaxy Tab 10.1 which means our problem is Rogers now, not Samsung. We've been very patient in waiting for the update but it's completely unacceptable that the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 gets released even before we get the update for our Tabs. What makes things worse is that the new Tab 2 is almost exactly the same as the one we have and I'm 100% sure that the ICS build for both is exactly the same. So Rogers, can we please get the ICS update already.

I'm seriously thinking about changing carrier for all my family once my current term ends. Customer support is my number 1 priority when it comes to choosing carriers and Rogers obviously fail in that.

P.S. Please don't tell me that the ICS is available as a custom ROM and I can flash it. Everybody knows that but I'm talking about the official build as we have the right to get it without having to explain why we don't want to root or flash a custom ROM (just 1 point is the camera).

Please note that this is a public forum so if you get angry reading my post or get annoyed, you don't have to stay and argue.. Sorry but that had to be said due to a past experience

Rogers will not comment of give any ETA for the update. Believe me. Everyone is waiting for updates on their tablets / phones & no word from Rogers at all. Everyone asks about a update & rogers gives the same exact response to every single person that asks. Check out their facebook to see it.

Honestly this is the reason why people leave. Rogers takes their time to add a update on 1 phone but does not realize they have billions to spend just to hire a few more people so they can get updates out faster.

I really wish Rogers actually was positive & send out the updates fast. Not within 6 months later. This can cost them customers & problems in the end.

Thanks for your response. I understand this and know that Rogers have a policy of not saying anything. I just believe that we, the customers, should not keep silent and wait for them to do something like they're doing us a favour. We need to voice our discontent with them in the hope they might rethink their policy. I for once, kept checking here for a very long time but kept quiet and only wrote something now because the new tab is already out and running ICS and because of that, I know they have no excuse for keeping us waiting.

To be fair, I don't think Rogers is the only one responsable for the ICS update availability for the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Samsung hasn't released the ICS update for any Galaxy Tab 10.1 yet.

It's sad but when you buy an Android device running Honeycomb (or any other version), it seems that you cannot expect that it will be updated to the next Android version or if it does, you cannot expect to get the update in less than 6 months after the public source code availability.
(needless to say that Samsung has access to the source code before the public availability).

I don't think we know that for sure. Samsungs press release basically made it sound like it was made available to the Carriers for devices they listed, which included the Tab. It's possible it's rolling out to the Carriers device by device... they didn't provide the most specific details, but it's always been the Carriers, historically, that delay updates the most.

What I wanted to say has been said already. Samsung's press release implied that they've given it to the carriers.

Samsung are to blame for taking so long to release the update(s) to the carriers but so are all the carriers.

We all waited so long for our phones and tablets to be updated and I have no problem waiting a little longer but what annoys me the most is the treatment we get from both Samsung and Rogers. I wouldn't mind waiting if they tell us something instead of keeping us in the dark.

At first, they said it's coming in the 1st quarter and when that has passed, they said 2nd quarter. They didn't say 2nd quarter until the beginning of April. I was like, duh, we know it won't come in the 1st quarter because that has passed. The problem is that they keep treating us the way they do which shows no respect whatsoever to the customers.

It bothers me that that the suits at Rogers are happy in knowing that their customers anxiously log into Kies  once (or more) a day hoping to find an update. You'd think they could issue a statement saying.." don't expect anything on Kies till mid June" or something along those lines..  I'm sure they get a chuckle out of that. GGrrrrrr!!!!

When Samsung Canada releases Android 4.x for the WiFi-only (carrier-free) Galaxy Tab 10.1, it will mean that carriers have the update.

Seriously I just want the update for my Galaxy tab 10.1. I pay plenty of money every month so I can use it while I am commutting. I have a one year contract on my data plan if Rogers is expecting me to keep the data plan once the contract expire they need to get it ICS quick.

My situation is similar. I also have a one-year contract with Rogers and if the update doesn't come before the end of June, there's absolutely no chance of me renewing my data plan. Even if I decided to keep a data plan, I will get one from one of their competitors. My patience has ran out
