"I would rather get the update through Rogers and not mess with my phone" You said that so i responded saying that the Nexus line & the Apple line get the updates from the Companies that make them. Rogers does not need to look at the updates seeing as the companies told them they are not going to so Rogers had to do this in order to have the phone on them.

You guys need to wait for updates like the rest of us. I know it seems really far but look at other companies for example. Apple releases updates to theire products every few months or so. Same with Blackberry. Android is not going to update there phones with new software every months because of bugs. It takes time to notice it / find a solution / try it out & patch it up & start sending it out.

Like Mathieu said. The latest from Samsung is 4.0.1 & from Google its 4.0.2

fine, then when is Samsung going to release 4.0.5?

There has been 4.0.2, 4.0.3, 4.0.4 and now 4.0.5 now or in March from Google. Samsung seems a little slow with the updates? Rogers doesn't seem to be doing anything at all, not that I'm surprised. But it's ironic that Rogers didn't tell me my "Google" phone wasn't updated by Google. Certainly sold me on the fact it's a Google phone.

The latest Android version published by Google in the public repository is 4.0.3.

At this point, 4.0.5 is a rumor spread by French carrier SFR (Vivendi).

If someone from Rogers told you that their Galaxy Nexus was going to get the updates from Google, he is misinformed (as I was) or he lied to you.

He told me it was a Google phone and was all over it and obviously sold me on the fact it was a Google phone. My understanding with some research before but not exactly researching the update situation was the software came from Google. Obviously I have had the phone for just over a week now and I realize now that mine and others in Canada get our updates from Samsung and not Google. It would have been nice to know this up front but that was not the case. The sales guy I had was nice enough so I can't fault him as I am pretty sure he was sporting an iPhone himself. Anyhow, I'll wait till the end of March after which time the phone gets nuked and I grab future updates from Google. I am not interested in waiting ages for Samsung to get off their butts and push an update and/or Rogers to tell us anything. I bought software on here but it is stated to work on 4.0.2/4.0.3 and other fixes/improvements are speed and that's in 4.0.5.

Google phone is meant because Android is owned by Google which makes it a Google phone. Samsung is the one supplying the updates to us Canadians.

Samsung does not need Rogers to say yes to release the updates to us. Its straight from Samsung NOT Rogers. Rogers will not say when or how the updates will come as Samsung has not told them yet & even if they have Rogers does not tell its costumers anything until the update is out.

The thing about the Nexus line is that the Android is built for it first. That means that when Android updates come, the Nexus line will be able to take advantage of it first. If you want to take advantage of it before it's ready for everybody else on the Nexus line, you need to upgrade the phone yourself by rooting, unlocking and flashing a custom ROM. That's why people buy the Nexus line: because it's easy to mod. If you're waiting for a one click update, you need to wait longer.

Yeah I think that is what I will do and root it. I don't feel like waiting for Samsung to release something. My phone is already 3 or 4 releases behind. It bothers me.

Looks like 4.0.2 is rolling out, though I don't see it available yet =(

To clairify all the interwebs..

Telus has nothing to do with this update.  It's being pushed to Canada as a whole for all.

Agreed. Now Mobilesyrup is saying Rogers is releasing the update to us but yet most of the post on the thread are saying they have not yet received it & even there people are telling them its Samsung / Google giving us the update on ALL the Galaxy Nexus & not the carriers. I guess the writers on MobileSyrup have not yet realized this.
