It looks like its been available in the US for some time. And updated straight from Google there.

Is this under Rogers control, or would we have to contact Samsung?

Well all the updates go threw Rogers first. They need to add their own bloatware into it before they release it. It will take a while for us to get it/

Unfortunately that seems to be the case. I was hoping to be done with all that after the Magic I had before.

Are all Galaxy Nexus phones in Canada in the same boat?

Yes all the Galaxy Nexus are the same. If you buy it lets say from Bell or Virgin its unlocked BUT the carriers will need to look & put their own bloatware before they release the updates. Fido & Telus are doing the same as goes for Rogers as well.

You can root your phone if you like but its up to your own fault if anything goes wrong while you are doing that. Apple is the ONLY company that has agreements for the carriers to not touch the software & let everyone get it at the same time.

Such a shame, that was one of the big advantages of the Nexus line, was that also the case with the N1 and NS here?

The Rogers rep I talked to just now (about another question primarily) said we would have to talk to Samsung about this, which is what I expected.

Hello all,

Google provides different builds per Carrier that is why we don’t have anything for Canada as of yet. It will also still be an OTA push once it becomes available.

Hope that helps,

Thanks Andrew!

It looks like it was a similar case with the Nexus S with different software configurations for different regions.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see

Looks like the yakjuux configuration is canada-wide and not specific to any one carrier.

Galaxy series is always vanilla android, this means no bloatware and fully unlocked (verizon version is diff). All the GSM versions are bloatware free so that is not the issue but the fact that it needs to be setup slightly different for each country. The Canadian version should have begun rolling out by now (according to mobilesyrup) so just wait and see if you get it.
