Hi All,
Yesterday I started having a strange data connection issue with my Samsung Galaxy S II LTE. Everything was fine in the morning, my phone is normally connected to the house Wifi while at home. I have the Llama app turning off the Wifi automatically when I get to work to save battery and prevent me from getting pestered by open Wifi connections. It would seem that my data connection was lost sometime in the morning as one of my auto-update apps did not update; however, my first indication that something was wrong was that my phone was down to 30% by noon. I do have to charge my phone at the office, but if I do not, I am usually fine until I get home.
At this time I power cycled the phone thinking that some app had gone rogue. After powering on, I had no data connection. The 4G indicator was there and a green up arrow indicating that it was trying to send, but no orange down arrow appeared to indicate received data.
The usual tricks such as toggling flight mode and changing the mode from LTE/HSPA/GSM did nothing. Additional power cycling did nothing. A call to Rogers support had them "reset the connection" and have me remove the battery, wait, and try again.
Still no cure. A second call confirmed that the SIM was working fine, plugging it into and old iPhone 3G we have kicking around. A hard reset was recommended if putting the wife's SIM in my phone produced the same results. I did not try that as I had to pick up my daughter. On my way, data magically started working!
Today at work, data connectivity was lost again. I'll have watch closer next time to see if it happens when I leave the house Wifi area next time.
I experimented with APNs this time. I manually added Rogers internet.com APN and presto, data started flowing again! Reboot the phone to be sure - NO DATA! I switch back to the default ltemobile.apn and presto, data is back!
Hmm, interesting. I hope this workaround information will help others and perhaps Rogers level 2/3 tech support trouble shoot the problem. If it doesn't return to normal in a few days, I will be calling support again.
Tim

We've been seeing it this week in Victoria as well:

Went through all the same trouble-shooting moves.
Come on, Rogers!

Hmmm, I wonder if the recent spike in solar activity has anything to do with it?

Have you checked your Mobile Network Settings? If you go into your settings -> wireless and networks -> Mobile Network Settings, you can check that your data is enabled or not. If it's not, turn it on. If it is and you're still getting nothing, try looking at your APNs of Access Point Names. If nothing is in your access point names, you can find them online for Rogers and just reset them. I can't think of it off the top of my head, but I've had to do this after rooting and installing a new radio in my Infuse 4g because of a similar issue.
Edit: Seems like you have tried this already... Note to self, read the WHOLE OP before commenting...

I had this issue too with my Nexus S in the last couple of days. I'm on Rogers. Went into Mobile Network Settings -> Access Point Names. Had 3 options, Chatr Internet, Rogers and Rogers Tethering.
Chatr Internet was selected so I changed it to Rogers and voila, problem solved!
Thanks Natron!
