Nexus gets updates straight from Google I believe...kinda like iPhone from iTunes.

Not a Canadian Galaxy Nexus; those updates came from Samsung.
There's actually a fairly extensive thread on this forum already regarding the differences between the two.

Hi Folks,
I am experiancing random reboots with my Galaxy nexus, I hear that the latest patch fixes it. I know I can root and put the 4.0.4 and it works but i am not really comfortable with that as I suspect I may make it worse.
When will this critical patch be released?

At least you are on 4.0.2. Any idea how i at least get that. the Random reboots and data drops are irritating.

Try this from XDA:
1. go to setting / apps then hit the all button at the top
2. scroll down to google services framework and then press it to open
3. hit the clear data button
4. RESTART the phone
5. go to settings / about phone / system updates (you will notice the date will be 1969 or 1970 this is ok )
6. hit the check now button
Should find the update....
Try it a couple of times, if there is an update available (ie. hasn't been pulled by google) it will grab it.
