This is only proposed legislation. As stated above, the price is currently $50.

By Canadian law every service provider must unlock the phone for free if the term contract is over or if u buy the phone paying the full price. See bill c-560

I have a BB9700. Contract with Rogers expires in March 2013.
I have purchased an unlock code - but have not initiated yet.
Once I do, and I continue to use a Rogers SIM card, will I still be able to use the 'package' I have with Rogers?
And if when travel to the US, I can then remove the SIM card from an AT&T phone and use it in my BB?
Just want to be 100% clear before I take the next steps...

There is no such law. That bill never got passed. It died on the order paper when the government was defeated in March 2011.

Thank you!
Forgive my naivite for these next questions: once I unclock the phone and use my Rogers SIM, everything on the phone will revert to my ROgers billing? When I use my AT&T SIM, that is used on a pay as you go phone - that too, still applies?
Is there a link or something you might direct me?
