its only creepy when you are not aware of WHY they do it?
BB uses a PROXY service, the data goes through their proxy and is COMPRESSED then sent to your phone. that way instead of sending large pages that consume lots of data, it only sends a smaller more phone optimized page to your phones browser, resulting in FASTER downloading and LESS DATA CONSUMPTION.
Guess you guys didn't know about this. Of course, you can install your own third party browser such as Oprah or something simillar and surf using the isp's APN and then you will be buypassing the BB apn completely, but you will use more data, unless your browser contains compression technology within it.

It was indeed a great explaination but you were also right -- it's creepy. It's all part of RIM's vaunted security but RIM has also proven that they are only too eager to share this information with anybody with a whiff of authority. Creepy indeed.
