Hi I'm running unlocked & rooted samsung captivate (cyanogenmod 7 with the glitch kernel and kg3 modem)

I can receive but not send text messages, everything else works fine.

I checked my smsc number ( after pressing *#*#4636#*#*) and it shows "00"  so I suspect that could be the issue..

what's the smsc number? does it need to be pdu encoded before entering?

I found "+17057969300" on the web but when trying to enter it in the smsc field it fails on clicking update

does it have to be pdu encoded?

Hi okoolo,

These would be the settings to program a Rogers phone, hopefully it helps

To program the SMSC (Text Messaging) number on Android devices, please follow these steps:

1. Go to the phone application.
2. From the phone application, press *#*#4636#*#*.  (You will have to press the Call or Send button after entering this code in for some Android devices).
3. Tap on Phone Information
4. Scroll to the bottom to where it says SMSC and enter this number exactly as you see on this page (including all symbols): +17057969300
5. Press Update.

Awesome Rogers_Kate... good on ya! Rooted & Unlocked.... yet Help! Maybe, rogers can be a little Cool :-). I'll have to think about removing my Rage Against the Telecoms website......

Confirmed: when entering +17057969300 I get "update error" as well.

(can recieve sms, just can't send them)

So, after doing a factory reset - still no outgoing sms messages!

I decided to put my sim card in another phone, and... outgoing sms failed in that phone too!

Bought a new $10 sim card, and everything is working again! (although I now have to restore the phone after the factory reset...)
